I can imagine what a challenging time this is and is going to be especially for all of you with young children to be looked after and entertained 24 hours a day.
I can’t tell you how it saddens me not to be able to help look after my grandchildren at this time and I am sure many of you feel the same way about family and friends! But we trust in the Lord and claim the many promises of our faithful King that he is with us and for us always.
As the Psalmist David wrote in Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want, He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul, He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me…” Amen!
I am sure most of you already have researched and know, as far as it is possible in your family situations, how important it is to try and structure every day consistently, with blocks of time set aside for different activities, school, chores (even very young children can help in the house), time for exercise, a walk in the woods, bicycling and also quiet times that the kids actually spend on their own, puzzles, reading, listening to books, Bible App etc.
And I found this cool experiment on Facebook on how to explain how soap gets rid of germs to young children which I am sharing here with you:
And yes, it is Pepper! :=)
But I would also like to remind you mothers and fathers, to make sure that you also plan your own quiet time! You need it! We will be starting a WhatsApp Group where we can be connected, will be able to share thoughts, struggles, prayer requests, share and ask for advice and help.
Please write to Almaz or Sally B. should you want to be included, see addresses at the bottom of this letter.
Now as Pastor Carsten already announced in his last letter, in the coming weeks we will be sharing resources with you, that you can use to have your daily family devotions and have as of today uploaded the Sunday Lessons.
This Unit is about when God’s people were exiled to Babylon and among those exiled were Daniel and his three friends. We have already finished Sessions 1 and 2.
The memory verse is 1. Thess. 5:16-18: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
The Leaders guide will give insight into the lesson, then read the story and discuss. Once your children have grasped the point, then show the corresponding video, about 3 to 4 min. You can use the activity and colouring pages should you wish to. We have also uploaded the songs that are part of this unit, the themes are: God is control, God restores (1.Peter5:10), He is faithful (Lamentations 3:22-23) und in Him we have a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11)
What an amazingly kind and gracious God we have! He had already chosen the story of Daniel and these verses because he knew that we would be needing them now right at this moment!
It is our hope and prayer that these resources and the WhatsApp group will be a blessing to you.
Please contact us with anything you need, any questions, concerns or just to connect. We are happy to be of service and support wherever we can.
